Sponges

A sponge is a soft, porous animal that lives mostly in oceans and belongs to the phylum Porifera. It has a simple body with many tiny holes called pores. Sponges filter water through their bodies to obtain food and oxygen. They do not have organs, tissues, or a nervous system like most animals. Most sponges remain attached to rocks or other surfaces throughout their lives. They come in various shapes, sizes, and colors. Sponges play an important role in maintaining clean aquatic environments. Some species can regenerate lost parts of their bodies. Natural and synthetic sponges are also widely used by humans for cleaning and bathing purposes.
